Method 1: Run Power troubleshooter
The power troubleshooter can automatically detect and fix any incorrect power settings. Refer to these steps to run this troubleshooter:
- Select settings in the drop down menu below search and type Troubleshooting.
- Click on Troubleshooting and select the view all option on the left pane.
- Click on Power troubleshooter and follow the prompts.
Method 2:Reset and restore the power plans to default
1. Click “Windows Key + X”, and then click on command prompt.
2. In the command prompt, type powercfg –restoredefaultschemes and hit Enter.
3. Exit command prompt.
Note: This would reset the power plan settings to default. Any previously customized power plans would be removed.
I also recommend you to check the battery with other PC and see if it is working. If it does, then this may be issue with the battery.
Thanks.

It is (or may be) a WIn 10 thingy. Charge will gradually drop down a little below 80% (on a Sony 64 bit I7) and stay there for days or weeks. At some point, it will then recharge to 95-98% (when & why- I don't know). I did not notice it in Win 7; but maybe I was not looking that closely.
The thing being is before, I could expect 5 hours on battery, but now maybe only 4. I guess I accept the idea that the battery will last longer only charged to 80%; but I suspect it has more to do with overcharging batteries that can sometimes burn up.

After a recent update of windows 10 my battery of my Asus laptop will not charge anymore.
I have read the posts here and tried many things, but nothing has helped so far:
1. It's not due to the fact that it is sufficiently charged, because it's at 0 %.
2. The Power troubleshooter did not change anything. It only optimized the energy conservation schedule.
3. Uninstalling the driver and re-installing it and removing the battery did not change anything.
4. The command 'powercfg –restoredefaultschemes': did not fix the problem.
5. It shouldn't be a problem with the battery itself, because the laptop is only 1.5 years old and the problem was present immediately after the windows 10 update. Before the update it was working fine.
What else can I do except restoring my system to the settings before the update? Or is the latter the only and best option?
